Facebook’s earnings report, released yesterday, brings comfort at a time of tumult. According to the third quarter 2017 earnings report, Facebook’s active users and total revenue increased.
Third Quarter 2017 Financial Highlights
Total revenue: $10,328, an increase by $3,317, a 47 percent year-over-year change.
Daily active users: 1.37 billion as of September 30, 2017, an increase of 16 percent year-over-year.
Monthly active users: 2.07 billion as of September 30, 2017, an increase of 16 percent year-over-year
Mobile advertising revenue: 88 percent of advertising revenue for the third quarter of 2017, an increase of approximately 84 percent.
Facebook’s impressive earnings report comes as a great relief to the media company that has been facing a tough few months amid public outrage over the Russian ads hack. During the report, Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg assured listeners that he is determined to prevent future foreign interference.
“We’re serious about preventing abuse on our platforms. We’re investing so much in security that it will impact our profitability. Protecting our community is more important than maximizing our profits,” Zuckerberg said.
As Facebook grows so does its responsibilities, and it seems Zuckerberg is prepared to face them.
