Pin to Top

What is the Pin to Top Feature?

The Pin to Top feature allows you to pick the first post that appears at the top of your Facebook business page. Any post that you pin will move to the top of your Page’s Timeline and a “pinned” icon will appear in the top-right corner of the post. The pinned icon goes away when it comes up organically in someone’s newsfeed, however.

Your pinned post will stay at the top of your Page’s Timeline for seven days. After that, it’ll return to the date it was posted on your Page’s Timeline. Only posts created by your Page can be pinned; posts that other people add to your Page aren’t supported by the feature.

Furthermore, only one post can be pinned at a time so you have to really commit to which one you would like at the top of your page.

If you have never heard of this feature before, do not worry. It is only available for business pages and not for personal Facebook profiles.

You can also use this during Facebook Live with your comments. Just pick your favorite one and pin it to the top!

This feature is different from the boosted posts option, which is an advertisement campaign that you would have paid for. Rather, this tool is simply utilizing a content management technique. You should not expect it to have a major effect on your estimated reach because it is not targeted, but it is a great tactic to potentially boost engagement.

How do I Pin a Post on My Business Page?

Pinning a post is incredibly easy. You can not go wrong while trying to do it.

Navigate to the post you would like to pin, hit those three dots that will pop up in the upper right corner of your post, and click “pin.” That’s it! Now your pin will be the first thing people see for seven days when they navigate to your page.

What is the Difference Between Pinned Posts and Announcements?

These two features sound similar so they are easy to confuse. However, pinned posts are for business pages and announcements are for Facebook groups. That being said, it’s the same function. Your pinned post is essentially functioning as an announcement for the new viewers on your page.

What Kind of Posts Should I Pin to my Business Page?

Think, what will strike a chord with your viewers? What is a great up-to-date piece of content that will be both engaging but also make you stand out against competitors?
