As some of you may have noticed Instagram recently launched a full width Call to Action button on their app. The CTA button is now positioned to appear across the bottom of the ad as opposed to appearing in the lower right hand corner of the ad. Analysis of this alteration shows that majority of offsite clicks on Instagram are from clicks on the CTA button of an ad instead of the overlay image. Now when an ads image is single tapped the CTA button will be highlighted, and a second tap will drive you offsite to a website, mobile app, or app store.
An additional product update was announced today. The CTA button of the Instagram link ad is now extended to your profile page when a person clicks on the link in your ad. This product update helps avoid leading consumers to unrelated content through their ad link. The enhancement has also improved Click Through Rates drastically.
